The Polish energy utility (PGNiG) has warned it might have to cut the gas supply from October 20, unless the long-delayed gas import agreement with Russia is finalized. The European Commission opposes the deal, arguing it contradicts the EU energy market rules on transit and third-party access to the pipelines. If the accord does not get signed next month, Poland’s top corporate gas consumers, including refineries and petrochemical companies, will be first in line to experience the supply cuts.
