EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

These days, weak economic data in the U.S. seem to be good news for the markets, which are increasingly pricing in a second round of quantitative easing (QE). Friday’s U.S. job market report was no exception. Private payroll gains remain quite disappointing and in line with an economy that is not yet in self-sustained recovery mode, which in turn paves the way for the Fed to come to the rescue with another round of QE. This week, we take a look at the recent spate of speeches from regional Fed presidents to gauge the balance of the debate within the Fed.
