Global Economics Outlook, GDP and CPI data for Latin America

  • Strong domestic demand and an improved external outlook promise to keep growth above trend, though it will decelerate from unsustainable levels.
  • All inflation targeting regimes will most likely achieve their target ranges in 2011. Brazil, Chile and Peru will tighten monetary policy in 2011, while Colombia and Mexico might lag.
  • Potential crisis in the EU is the most immediate risk, while monetary policy normalization in the U.S. in a context of policy complacency and overvalued currencies in Latin America are our main concern over the medium term.
