U.S. Household Survey Data: Is The Drop in the Unemployment Rate Cause to Celebrate?

The January household survey data showed a gain of 117,000 in the number of people employed, while a sharp drop in the civilian labor force in January (-504,000) accounted for most of the drop in the number of unemployed (down 622,000). The January report also included the population control adjustment for 2011 revising the population, the labor force and the level of employed lower.
