EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
After a light week for data in the U.S., this week brings the release of retail sales, housing starts, CPI and PPI, as well as the first regional manufacturing surveys for February. The retail sales data should continue to show a gain, extending the momentum from Q4, while housing starts are expected to show a slight gain following a collapse in December. The release of the FOMC meeting minutes should reveal policy makers’ thoughts on the upturn in economic activity and their views on inflation.
