Markets in 2013: H1 Sees Positive Contagion, but Will Remission Last?

By Rachel Ziemba, David Nowakowski, Brunello Rosa, Jennifer Kapila and the RGE Macro Strategy Team

We expect 2013 to be a positive year for markets. Early in the year, increased visibility for investors favors riskier assets, with reduced correlation implying that individual growth trajectories and balance-sheet strength will be the major differentiator of returns (i.e., a growing U.S. outperforming a cheaper, but stagnating eurozone, EZ). Investors will not make money by refusing to take risk.
