Nigeria is the world's tenth largest oil producer and the sixth largest in OPEC. Militants have cut Nigeria's oil output drastically. As of mid 2009, its production fell to 1.8 million barrels a day, lower than Angola's, taking it to the second largest producer in Sub-Saharan Africa, and about a half of its potential output. The country is only in marginal compliance with its OPEC targets.
