Economic Analyst - EMU and Western European Economies (London)

A leading high profile global economics consulting company is seeking strong candidates for an EMU and Western Europe (incl. UK and Switzerland) economic analyst position. Location: London.

Description of Job

Our dynamic editorial staff finds, analyzes, and summarizes a continuous stream of quality journal articles, working papers, op-ed commentary, academic publications, investment research and news to RGE clients.  In addition, economic analysts research and write proprietary content on a wide range of topics, both as individual authors and as assistants or co-authors with other analysts as well as RGE’s Chairman, Nouriel Roubini.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Sourcing, analyzing, and posting economic-related content that would be most useful to key decision makers around the world (related to EMU and Western European economies)
  • Keeping up-to-date on all relevant geostrategic and economic events
  • Participating in weekly meetings and contributing ideas on important economic events and topics
  • Researching and writing regular analysis pieces (related to EMU and Western Europe)
  • Working with/assisting head economists on research projects, as necessary
  • Participate in advisory services as needed (related to EMU and Western Europe)
Qualifications:
  • Masters in Economics (Political Science and International Affairs will be considered as well, but upon demonstration of strong economic background) or extensive course work/employment in the real macro and international economics field
  • Strong knowledge of current economic debates relevant to economists, policy makers, and investment professionals
  • Strong knowledge of current real economic trends and policies with special emphasis related to the real side of EMU and non-EMU Western European economies
  • Strong writing skills, for both academic and lay audiences

Business Development Associates - Multiple Openings (New York and London)
In response to tremendous interest in our product, RGE is growing its sales organization to keep up with demand. We are looking for sales professionals who are entrepreneurial, love selling, and who have a history of hitting sales targets out of the ballpark. The ideal candidate has experience selling digital media products to financial institutions and specifically to large asset management firms, international financial institutions, investment and commercial banks, government institutions, among others. A thorough understanding of the financial information market is preferred.

Responsibilities include:
  • Managing a long-term client base, while growing revenue with sales of new/ incremental products
  • Developing a set of relationships at CEO, VP, and Director levels within customer organizations to support account strategy
  • Executing a comprehensive and achievable strategic plan for target client accounts
  • Overseeing and managing all financial aspects of client relationship
  • Providing exceptional relationship management
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience selling digital media, market data, research (or similar products) to financial institutions

Account Managers - Multiple Openings (New York and London)

Responsibilities:
  • Identify, research and target prospective client renewals business using all available means, whilst achieving a net revenue or revenue growth position
  • Create and maintain a sales pipeline of renewals opportunities within the designated market segment(s)
  • Develop and maintain a business plan for maintaining strategic accounts
  • Ensure there is a clear business strategy to save any client on the risk register.
  • Build executive level relationships with clients to understand their business needs in relation to the use of our product
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of business trends and needs requirements of the relevant vertical market and provide regular feedback to the company, especially in terms of new product requirements
  • Provide accurate forecasts and reports on activity and sales performance as and when required by management
  • Maintain accurate and up to date customer information within the CRM
Qualifications:
  • Experience within a client facing role which included sales or sales prospecting as part of its function.

Economic Intern - Finance and Banking (New York)

Responsibilities include:
  • Sourcing, analyzing, and posting economic-related content that would be most useful to key decision makers around the world on topics related to finance and banking
  • Monitoring relevant geostrategic and economic events;
  • Working with/assisting economists on research projects, including data collection as necessary
      Qualifications:
      • BA in Economics, Political Science, International Affairs, or extensive course work/employment in related field. Enrollment in a Masters program preferred
      • Strong knowledge of current geostrategic and economic debates relevant to economists, policy makers, and investment professionals
      • Strong writing skills, for both academic and lay audiences
      • Well-developed sense of teamwork
      • Ability to work under deadline
      • Knowledge of economic issues of the Finance and Banking sector is desired

      Minimum commitment: 2-hours on a daily basis for at least one semester.

      Economic Intern - Asia (New York)

      Responsibilities include:

      • Sourcing, analyzing, writing, and posting content related to Asia that is most pertinent to key decision makers around the world
      • Keeping up-to-date on economic, financial and political events in Asia, especially those of South and South East Asia
      • Working with/assisting analysts and senior analysts on research projects, data transformation and reports, as necessary
      Qualifications:
      • Masters in Economics with coursework in macroeconomics and international economics. Political Science and International Affairs graduates will be considered upon demonstration of strong economic background
      • Strong knowledge of current economic trends and debates concerning Asian economies, especially those of South and South East Asia

      Economic Intern – Latin America (New York)

      The intern would provide support to the analyst/editorial team on a variety of projects on related to the energy markets, capital flows, and country risk analysis. 

      Responsibilities include:

      • Sourcing, analyzing, and posting economic and finance related content that would be most useful to key decision makers around the world;
      • Keeping up-to-date on and contributing to coverage of relevant geostrategic and economic events – and in some cases, financial events;
      • Working with/assisting analysts on research projects, as necessary.

      Requirements:

      • At least two years completed towards a Bachelor's degree at a reputable university locally or overseas with a concentration in Economics, Finance, International Affairs or Business.  Course work in economics and/or Finance is required for IA and Business majors.  (Masters students and fresh graduates are also welcome to apply)
      • Familiarity with Latin American region (economics, politics, and markets)
      • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
      • Ability to manage multiple priorities and be a good team player
      • Strong problem solving and analytical skills and possess attention to detail
      • Be in good academic standing
      • Must be able to commit to internship for no less than one semester
      • Spanish speaking preferred, but not necessary.

      Strategy Paid Internships

      Strategy Intern- Equity and Asset Allocation Strategy (New York)

      Responsibilities include: 

      •  Assisting with quantitative models to support tactical asset allocation.
      • Building quantitative forecasting models for various asset classes for various time horizons for use in the asset allocation process with guidance from asset class strategists
      • Supporting the equity effort with model updates and enhancements to valuation for global equity markets

      Qualifications:

      • BA in Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Engineering or extensive course work/employment in related field.  Enrollment in a Masters program preferred
      • Knowledge of efficient market theory, optimization techniques and/or risk management a plus
      • Knowledge of equity valuation a plus
      • Well-developed sense of teamwork
      • Ability to work under deadline

      Minimum commitment: one semester for 30 hours per week

      Strategy Intern - Commodities (New York)

      Responsibilities include:

      • Sourcing and posting articles on the Roubini.com website on a daily basis to keep clients apprised of recent developments in and forecasts for commodities
      • Writing web copy, blogs and analyses
      • Assisting analysts and investment strategists on research projects by gathering data and information
      • Build and update a series of spreadsheets with relevant data

      Minimum Requirements:

      • College degree or matriculation in an undergraduate or graduate program
      • Undergraduate applicants must be in at least their third year
      • Minimum 3.5 grade point average
      • OR BA in Economics, Political Science, International Affairs, or extensive course work/employment in related field.  Enrollment in a Masters program preferred
      • Strong knowledge of current geostrategic and economic debates relevant to economists, policy Areas of study: Economics or Finance makers, and investment professionals
      • English fluency both in written and oral communication
      • Working knowledge of Excel
      • Working knowledge of internet search engines
      • Keen attention to detail - can see beyond the sensationalism of news stories and press releases
      • Ability to cut through large swathes of information to distill key arguments
      • Speed reader, multi-tasker, self-starter, fast learner, team player
      • Ability to work under deadline
      • Strong desire to become an economic analyst or Strategist at RGE

      Recommended:

      • Experience working with a CMS (content management system), particularly RedDot
      • Working knowledge of Thomson Reuters 3000Xtra, Bloomberg and Factset
      • Familiarity with terms like contango, backwardation, futures, EIA
