RGE's Q1 2010 Asia Pacific Outlook

While Asia is witnessing a stronger rebound compared to other regions, the strength of the recovery varies across countries. At the national level, RGE projects Japan to grow 1.0% in 2010, mainly due to strong base effects from consumption and exports. Continued stimulus and an increase in private investment will drive China’s growth to 9.5%. The Asian Tigers will grow around 5.0%, led by improving exports and investment, inventory restocking, fiscal stimulus and base effects. Thailand, Malaysia and the Philippines will grow around 4.0%. Domestic demand will boost India, Indonesia and Vietnam’s growth to 7.7%, 5.5% and 6.2% respectively. Australia will grow by 2.8% due to strong commodity exports and reviving investment, while New Zealand will grow 1.5% led by export demand from China and Australia.
