RGE's Q3 2010 Asia Pacific Outlook

Asia’s growth will begin to ease in H2 2010 as the fading of base effects and conclusion of inventory restocking and fiscal stimulus, along with weaker demand in the U.S. and EU, slow Asia/Pacific growth to 6.0% in 2011 and that of emerging Asia to 7.2%. Nonetheless, regional growth will remain above the 2008-09 lows and will continue to lead the global recovery. Growth in 2011 will be significantly weaker in economies with low consumption and high export dependence like Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, China, Thailand and Taiwan, which benefited from base effects and the inventory cycle in 2010. Meanwhile, high domestic demand and low export dependence will help India, Indonesia and Vietnam sustain strong growth in 2011.
