Czech Republic Outlook: Still in the Slow Lane

Due to anemic domestic demand, the export growth rates will outpace that of imports, leading to a positive growth contribution from net exports in 2012. After posting negative y/y growth rate in H1 2012, economic activity will pick up in H2 and into 2013 on the back of enhanced sentiment, consolidation in the EZ core and slowly improving labor market conditions. Should the koruna extend its gains in the coming months, we expect the Czech central bank (CNB) to offset the austere fiscal policy and opt for a rate cut, most likely in Q4 when the inflation rate will move closer to the target.
