RGE's Q2 2010 Baltics Outlook

The Baltic economies (Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania) are slowly stabilizing after suffering some of the deepest downturns in the world last year. Since the Q1 2010 outlook, growth prospects have improved for the trio amid a resurgence in exports and somewhat less pessimistic economic sentiment. Nevertheless, the economic situation remains challenging. Given their fixed exchange rates to the euro, all three economies are in the painful process of economic adjustment via internal deflation (wage and price cuts), rather than nominal depreciation, to restore competitiveness.
