Greece Outlook: Bailout Makes Everything Worse

We expect the contraction in Greece’s GDP to deepen to 5.7% y/y in 2011 before easing to 4.9% in 2012 and 2.1% in 2013. We expect that, faced with a choice between a decade of austerity and recession or an EZ exit to regain competitiveness, the government will choose the latter, most likely by the end of 2012.
