Hong Kong Outlook: The Party Lingers On

Hong Kong’s high-beta economy will receive a boost from the improved, if still weak, global outlook. Property prices look set to continue falling in 2012, although we do not expect a severe correction as the macro drivers behind the bubble remain largely in place. Hong Kong will maintain the USD peg, which means importing too-loose monetary conditions. It will offset the inflationary effects with government subsidies thanks to its strong fiscal position.
