Israel Outlook Update: A Proactive BoI Amid a Slowdown
Weaker global economic activity will likely exacerbate the slowdown in Israel’s domestic demand in 2012. Weaker inflation, domestic demand and global policy easing will prompt the Bank of Israel (BoI) to cut the interest rate further in H1 2012, reversing some of the past tightening. Domestic demand, dampened by risk aversion, weaker consumer confidence and lower purchasing power, will fail to offset weaker exports to the U.S., EU and Asia.
