Mexico Outlook: On a Roll

Mexico will continue enjoying positive momentum thanks to recovery in key sectors and improvement in the U.S. economy, which have led us to revise up our growth forecast for 2012. The central bank, Banxico, will likely stay on hold for the foreseeable future as quantitative easing (QE) in the U.S. appears delayed, activity remains supported and inflation is failing to converge to the midpoint of the central bank target. July elections will generate debate about potential economic reforms and security improvements, but any new legislation will be subject to gridlock in congress. No matter who takes office, we don’t anticipate any major changes in macroeconomic management.
