Poland Outlook: Still Outperforming the Region

The growth rate is set to soften, reflecting the waning effects of inventory restocking, continued fiscal tightening and reduced foreign demand. Big-ticket infrastructure projects ahead of the Euro 2012 soccer championship will continue to make up for a drop in private investment until the middle of this year, but ease thereafter. The risk-on environment and zloty rebound will facilitate a gradual decline in the inflation rate through 2012 and convince the National Bank of Poland (NBP) to bring forward the start of the easing cycle, to Q4.
