Geostrategic & Long Term Issues

After falling a mere 0.2% in Q2, Eurozone GDP rose 0.4% in Q3 pulling the region out of recession. The rise was slightly below the commission's expectations of a 0.5% rise. Industrial production surged 0.3% in September adding weight to the recovery. With October Composite PMI in the eurozone rose to 53 from 49 in September, the third consecutive monthly increase, the underlying economy appears to be improving. RGE expects 2009 annual growth of -4% in the eurozone, with Germany at -5.1%, France at -2.2%, Italy at -5.5% and Spain at -4%.
